The Philia Story
Philia (Dan Giffin) is a drummer, producer, DJ, and educator currently based in Denver, CO. Dan combines his Jazz roots with funky, melodic bass music to create a truly unique and distinct sound.
It's not uncommon for Philia songs to include fun samples of anything from goats to champagne bottles, while morphing them smoothly into songs.
In 2013, Dan moved from Ohio to New York City to study music technology, eventually becoming an Ableton Certified Trainer. Over the years he began teaching his skills and landed opportunities in the studio and on stage with artists like Mac Miller, The Band Perry, etc. He later trained under Electronic Creatives, a Los Angeles based team of engineers doing playback for The Grammy's, and today's biggest mainstream artists. Dan is also the host for the Ableton Music Producer Podcast, interviewing today's major producers and Ableton Live users.
In 2022, Philia relocated to Denver, Colorado where he continues to produce and perform music, while teaching his skills online to upcoming artists at LiveProducersOnline.com as well as several universities.
When not performing solo, Dan plays with the Philia Live Band, adding heavy hitting saxophone, keys and other live instruments.
